Breakwater

The beach that's bursting with life.

There’s never a dull moment in Venice – especially on the boardwalk. With surf in one direction and the iconic Venice skatepark in another, street vendors, artists, and award-winning restaurants, this unforgettable area of LA is bursting with life. Lucy guides us from one end of the boardwalk to another after catching a few waves and grabbing a post Surf Acai bowl, giving us a tour of the sights and a glimpse into the infectious energy.

Grlswirl HQ

Where the GrlSwirl magic happens.

Venice beach isn’t only a paradise for surfers and skaters, it’s where GrlSwirl came to life, and where Lucy has been working to build the incredible community that it is today since 2018. Lucy stops by her house, an idyllic Venice bungalow for a refresh and then takes us to the GrlSwirl HQ. She showed us an iconic GrlSwirl surfboard before getting some work handles and giving us a glimpse into her everyday routine running the show.

Cafe Brasil

A taste of Brazil, right in LA.

There’s no shortage of food options in LA, and Lucy took us to one of her favorite spots for lunch. Cafe Brasil has a warm and inviting atmosphere, made complete with kind people and delicious food. From walls of color and plates of authentic dishes, it’s a taste of Brazil right in Los Angeles.

Mitsuwa Japanese Market

A global adventure.

A must-stop adventure if you are in Venice is Mitsuwa Japanese market. It’s a Japanese grocery store with multiple single window restaurants inside, as well as a section for home items and stationary. Lucy showed us around the aisles of specialty food items and introduced us to some her favorite finds.

The Cove Skatepark

Carving with community.

Bordering Venice in Santa Monica, The Cove is a community skatepark that is a hub for Lucy and locals. A controlled community park that checks you in to skate, The Cove provides a safe, inviting atmosphere for the GrlSwirl community, and all skaters.

Irori Sushi

Local late night bites.

Located right in Venice, Lucy grabs a late night table gathered with friends at Irori Sushi right before service stops. Known for its traditional character and intimate setting, the seating is directly on the floor using Tatami Mats with low tables, offering a deep connection to food and culture, and is bustling until the very last minute.
